Aurora Dee Raynes – Underground Shapeshifter (Tru Thoughts)

First track up is from Surf Coast born Immy Owusu calling on his Ghanaian heritage to produce hos own brand of ‘Lo-Fi Highlife’ on Flashback, that came our way only yesterday on Hopestreet Recordings.  Originally written seven years ago with Malian guitarist and Salif Keita collaborator Moussa Diakite it is great to finally see Flashback get a release.

London based Aurora Dee Raynes is a band that has graced the playlists of the Friday Hot 3 and The Illicit Grooves Radio Show on many occasions and the Hot Plasma EP has provided us with even more playlisting opportunities.  Again released only yesterday on the Brighton label Tru Thoughts (another The Return of the Illicit Groove favourite) we have taken the opening track Underground Shapeshifter from the EP.

We head over to California born singer-songwriter Quinn Lamont Luke for the final cut this week.  Based between New York and the Mexican city of Oaxaca Quinn is also a member of the band Paqua and has collaborated with artists and producers from Bryan Ferry to Groove Armada over the past three decades.  This release on his own imprint, El Triangulo, releasing on the 14th of April includes three versions of No Getting Over you including this remix from Ron Basejam.
